The Home We Remember is an introspective lyric tabletop roleplaying game of magical realism. It is a game about imperfect memory, identity, and community. In this game, you play as a member of a community that has recently experienced a tragedy. Using tarot cards, you move through your memories, reliving them over and over, attempting to prevent the tragedy. You tell and retell the stories that make up who you are. You choose to change alongside them or to hold firm in your sense of self, for better or for worse.
In The Home We Remember, time is space and space is time. Past, present, and future are meaningless distinctions. What was, is what is, is what could be. Memories are not mementos of the past, nor are they perfect snapshots of people, emotions, and experiences. Memories are held in places, waiting for us to venture into them again and again, to relive them again and again. Time is a place we find. The act of remembering is writing another version of our personal histories coloured by who we are when we pick up the pen.
What story will you tell about yourself? And how many times will you tell it?
